Dr Richard Bandler co-created the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming in the late 1960s and early 1970s while working with psychotherapists Viriginia Satir and Fritz Perls. He noticed that, unlike many other therapists at the time, these two had a high success rate in helping people to change for good. In writing down transcripts of their client sessions, he began to notice particular linguistic similarities in their work, which seemed to produce powerful changes in their clients.

Developing his observations, he began to realise that both Perl and Satir were entirely unconscious of their own techniques, relying, as they said, on intuition. Bandler worked out what each was doing unconsciously and then began to emulate their successes. He had discovered the art of NLP modelling: that is - discovering how people who excel do things even when they themselves can't explain how they do it.

Today, NLP is used to help people excel in all areas of life: in business, in the arts, in education, in therapy, in work and at play.
