Weekly Course: Saturday Afternoon 'Meditation & Buddhist Family Values' (starts 17 Oct 2009)

Date posted: Friday 18th September
Location: Woking

This course on Buddhist family values is based on the text 'Family day by day'. In addition to edifying students as to the application of Buddhist principles in family life, it will prepare prospective examinees for the 4th World Peace Ethics Contest to be held in mid-December. The course also teaches basic meditation skills and how to build meditation into your everyday life.

The course will be held on Saturday afternoons (note: there are are some gaps) from 1.30-3.15 p.m., starting on 17 October and consisting of seven lessons. Lesson content is shown on the weblink below.

Teaching is free, however, it would be appreciated if participants would make a minimum donation of five pounds each time a session is attended, towards the cost of temple upkeep, tea & biscuits.

The meditation course will be led by Ven. Phra Nicholas Thanissaro who is a Thai monk of UK origin. He has been a Buddhist monk for twelve years and has over twenty years of Buddhist experience. He has been giving popular meditation course in Europe since 1997 and has several TV guest spots, audio CD's, books and book translations to his name.

The course is usually attended by a group of twenty, comprising seasoned meditators and newcomers alike. A brief introduction to meditation is provided each time a newcomer attends and the group meditates together each time for approximately forty minutes.
