Quarks is an internet café located in Guildford that has 18 computers, also offering printing, scanning, faxing, CD burning, DVD transfer services & shipping via DHL. We have a range of coffees, teas, milkshakes and soft drinks as well as some basic dry goods (crisps, confectionery etc). Quarks was established in early 1996 and is now one of the oldest internet cafes in the world.

We require a part-time person to cover specific shifts and have some flexibility for the occasional extra shifts that arise, for example, when staff are on leave. Tasks include greeting and serving customers, setup and close down of the café (depending on shift), entering transactions into the till, processing credit card payments, serving refreshments, helping people on PCs and cleaning of the café during and after shifts. Minimum age 21 due to lone work restrictions.

We pride ourselves in great customer service therefore the successful applicant will need to be fluent in English, of smart appearance and have the right to work in the U.K in order to be considered for the position. You should also have some relative retail experience, a strong attention to detail and world class in customer service. Selling skills are useful, but it is your ability to host the café and go out of way to satisfy our customers that will ensure success.

You should be available to work for the following shifts and be able to commit to those shifts on an ongoing basis, for a miminum period of 6 months. Some flexibility on additional shifts would also be beneficial.

Shift times:
Monday 9am – 3pm
Tuesday 9am – 3pm
Wednesday 3pm – 9pm
Thursday 3pm – 9pm
Saturday 3pm – 9pm

Compensation: £6.20 per hour + benefits

You do not need strong technical skills, other than a basic understanding of the day to day tasks done on a PC.

NOTE: This position COULD, in time, be developed into a General Management role of the café with an improved package. This depends on the wishes and suitability of the applicant and the timescale of it occurring is entirely dependent on the abilities demonstrated by the successful applicant.
