Production Line Engineer
Our client is looking for a Production Line Engineer to join their team in Alton, Hampshire.
The post holder will be responsible for setting and maintaining equipment to support the production of a variety of healthcare, toiletry and pharmaceutical products, and will support production line personnel in achieving targeted output.
This is a factory-based role, requiring the post holder to be standing for most of the working day. Moderate physical effort will be required and will include, bending, lifting and the operation of basic manual handling and occasional movement of equipment. The post involves basic documentation and simple recording of electronic data, which requires accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
Following training the key duties of the post are as follows :
• Be responsible for the setting of production lines in accordance with product
standards and specifications
• Liaise closely with Production Management to priorotise production planning and
equipment availability
• Support production line personnel in the achievement of required target outputs
• Ensure that production is serviced as required in a timely fashion, so to maximise
output
• Inform and update Production Management with regards to line availability
• Ensure maximum engineering support is maintained during operational hours
• Work closely as part of a team in conjunction with the warehouse and
manufacturing departments
• Report any replacement part shortages to the Engineering Team Leader for
resolution
• Ensure that equipment is maintained and any identified faults are reported
immediately so corrective action can be taken; report any equipment failures to
the Engineering Team Leader for resolution
• Be responsible and accountable for completion of own Work Orders and all other
relevant documentation
• Ensure that documentation is accurately maintained and relevant information
communicated as appropriate
• Carry out preventative maintenance to process equipment using as Asset Care
database (MP2)
• Participate in the development and production of machine setting manuals and set up detail documentation
• Manufacture new or replacement parts and carry out repairs as required
• Assist in determining training and development needs of Engineering Apprentices and other technical/operational personnel
• Be available for weekend and out of hours work if and when the business dictates
Suitable candidate should have:
• Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship : City & Guilds or equivalent (essential)
• Knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles (essential) and workshop machine tools e.g. mill, lathe (essential).
• Experience within a fast moving consumables goods (FMCG) environment (desired)
• Relative industry knowledge and experience (desired but not essential)
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organise workload and work proactively on own initiative or as an interchangeable member of a small team.
• Ability to retain focus and maintain a calm demeanour under pressure.
• Ability to use computerised information systems to retrieve, update and input all relevant data on equipment history and planned maintenance using an asset Management Package (MP2).
• Ability to learn and implement Health and Safety measures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Hours of work: 2.00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m. Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
Salary: £11.15 per hour + 20% shift allowance on late shift
